'Deer'; I just finished this drawing. It was fun drawing this animal that looks both strong and sensitive.
It will probably become part of my 'Never ending' series (see below for more drawings in this series).

Dogs at Perissa beach

These stray dogs were at the beach of Perissa, Santorini, in the summer of 2011.

Never ending series, part 2 (not complete yet...)

This picture needs a third picture on the right side....I'm not sure yet what it's going to be.....maybe a seahorse or a dolphin, or a turtle...It is part 2 of the 'never ending' series about the balance of survival and simply living together in nature. This new work consists of 3 parts. It was made with Caran D'Ache Grafstone crayons (6B) on paper.
The total size is 126 x 59 cm.

I treated myself to some new material, and have tried out the Caran d'Ache Grafstone 6B crayon. I like it! I want to combine it with a white crayon to add extra detail in a light color.
This picture is 42 x 42 cm, and part of my personal collection.

I visited Emborio for the first time in August 2011. Unbelievable, since I have been to Santorini at least 12 times!  And the old part of Emborio is beautiful! It was an eye-opener for me.
This cat looked at me as if it was saying: "I am completely at ease", while at the same time expressing that it was ready to jump up and escape if I got too close. I was intrigued by this expression, but also by the textures in the cat's fur, and in the wall and the ground. The coolness of the wall and ground, in contrast with the heat of the really hot day in August. And what a wonderful colour the wall is! An artist can't not see this!
